Roxys West Palm Beach vs. Shawn Anderson

Posted by mobile phone:
If you listen to the radio at all in palm beach county you will have heard the story of Shawn Anderson vs. Roxys Pub.

The reported story is that Shawn Anderson was kicked out of Roxys for having Grillz. He accused Roxys of discriminating against people of color. John (owner) stated that grillz are against the dress code and people not complying with the dress code are asked to leave.

John then proceeded to put up the “Shawn Anderson Quiz” as well as copies of Shawn’s lengthy criminal record on the roxys pub website.

The website has seen a massive spike in traffic since then. Like they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

a little on guitars

Posted by mobile phone:
Went out looking for guitars last night. I am torn as to what I want. I have always had an acoustic guitar and now think that I should move past that and expand my knowledge with an electric.

I’ve played a lot on various electric guotars and none of them jumped out at me the way their nice acoustic guitars do. I played a couple ibanez hollowbodies and the were beautiful when plugged in but tinney when not.

I guess the maun question is if I’ll spend more time jacked in or not.

i am cheated

Posted by mobile phone:
After the longest wait ever (20 days for an amazon order) I finally got I am Legend.

It isn’t the story that I have a problem with its the packaging. I bought the book thinking that the entire book was I am Legend onluy the first 150 pages are I am Legend and the rest were short stories.

Is it too difficult to name your book “I am Legend – and other short srories”? Maybe it is just me, but how a book is bound has a lot to do with how I read it. In this case I put the book down 5 pages from the end of the story and then picked it up again only to find that the story had ended. Slighly disappointing for a book that I was enjoying.

google apps – meh

Posted by mobile phone:
A bit nonpulsed about the google apps trial I signed up for today.

there doesn’t seem to be any groupware functionality. No sharing contacts, no automatocally shared callendars. I mean if I have to manually add everyones schedules to everyone elses that will be a crapload of adding – even gfor a s$mall company.

Granted this has just been my initial impression after banging it around for a few minutes.

Maybe it gets better. Nah!

ouch

Walking to work isn’t that much fun after you’ve hurt your hip, and then gone bowling with a sore hip ;(

If you are driving down dixie hwy and see a shabily dressed guy limping down the road while hammering away on his blacberrt that’s me.

Talking about walking down dixie, I always get asked for directions. I guess I am going to work at a time when everyone else is going somewhere. Most of the time its jurors looking for the courthouse. Just now it was someone looking for the palm beach atlantic university.

This is becoming too painful. Must focus on walking.

american gladiators

Posted by mobile phone:
Watched the premier last night. Was pretty good as far as AG is concerned.

I started out not liking the “Marine Mom” that much but she was so incredibly tough it was impressive. A pity that she smacked her head on that underwater pole. If she wouldn’t have hurt hetself, she would have won.

The firefighter and spidermonkey wew also very entertaning. Watch out for the little guys.

Two hours was way too much gladiator for one sitting.

Now that I have figured out how to type with this thoing I am writing a lot more in my six-minute walk.

arctic-like weather

Posted by mobile phone:
Is how the Palm Beach Post describes the 2-day cold fronmt that is hitting us.

It is funny as I walk to worlk in the frisk winter air to see floridians all bundled up. If only we could have had this weather over christmas.

That’s all qbout the weather.

Watched jay leno last night. BRING WRITERS BACK!!! The only amusing part was Mike Huchabee (sp?). Other than that it was fairly dull.

I registered as a republican last week. I usually don’t like encouragoing our capitalistic overlords by voting, however voting for Ron Paul in the primaries is a good thing.

annie is a realist

Posted by mobile phone:
Annie lost her third tooth yesterday. We told her to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy to which she declared that there is no tooth fairy. We just told her to put the tooth under her pillow and we’ll see if there is a tooth fairy or not.

I am writinmg this as I walk to work and its freezing.

Anyway this morning she found the dollar and instead of it convincing her of the tooth fairy she is all the more convinced that it was Mom.

She explained that there is no tooth fairy because “a little bitty fairy couldn’t lift up the pillow of a big girl like me”. I tried to reason by explaining that the tooth fairy probably used magic. To which she proclaimed that she didn’t believe in magic.

only 3 levels left

Posted by mobile phone:
The girls went to play miniture golf with Misty. We came to check on them and I asked her through the fence what hole they were on.

Mia sticks up her head and says “we only have 3 levels left”.

Maybe we should play fewer computer games.

WTF? GoDaddy Dudes?

I was doing my daily godaddy run to reserve a domain name for a future project (which will probably never happen) when I realized that the godaddy front page had removed the godaddy girls and replaced them with godaddy dudes!

godaddy dudes

I am not sure how I feel about this. A site called godaddy with a bunch of dudes on the front page is just wrong.

I may have to take my business elsewhere! Bring back Candice Michelle!!!!

amazonian screwup

Posted by mobile phone:
After watching “I am legend” and having a twitter discission with scott sigler about the author I decided to read the original.

Being a big fan of amazon I went online and ordered the books. That was on the 20th. Usually books only take a couple days to get to you (I use standard 3-5 day shipping) so after a week of no books I checked amazon to see what the status was.

The books haven’t been shipped yet and the estimated arrival date was the 15th. Since there is no way I am going to pay for 3-week delivery I updated the order and changed the shipping to the free 5-7 day option.

Now my books should arrive on the 5th.

a journal of unrealized accomplishments

Posted by mobile phone:
I have far more ideas than I have time to even write down.

It is very likely that 95% are totally worthless, but then again about 95% of all new web2.0 sites are equally as worthless. so the question becomes how to reaize ideas which you don’t have the resources to realize.

Maybe I should be a part time “director of internet strategies” in a company that has a LOT of money to burn.
