amazonian screwup

December 28th, 2007

Posted by mobile phone:
After watching “I am legend” and having a twitter discission with scott sigler about the author I decided to read the original.

Being a big fan of amazon I went online and ordered the books. That was on the 20th. Usually books only take a couple days to get to you (I use standard 3-5 day shipping) so after a week of no books I checked amazon to see what the status was.

The books haven’t been shipped yet and the estimated arrival date was the 15th. Since there is no way I am going to pay for 3-week delivery I updated the order and changed the shipping to the free 5-7 day option.

Now my books should arrive on the 5th.

a journal of unrealized accomplishments

I have far more ideas than I have time to even write down.

It is very likely that 95% are totally worthless, but then again about 95% of all new web2.0 sites are equally as worthless. so the question becomes how to reaize ideas which you don’t have the resources to realize.

Maybe I should be a part time “director of internet strategies” in a company that has a LOT of money to burn.

final steps in site launch

December 27th, 2007

Today we did a LOT of intense cross browser compatibility checking. Thankfully there was nothing too drastic just a couple pixels here and there and a weird Safari JS issue.

I am ready to launch this thibg already. We are just waiting on marketing for all our new marketing stuff.

getting bacj to work

December 26th, 2007

Its been a relaxing three days. Except for the part where our biometric lock crashes on Christmas eve and I (being the closest one to “the scene”) have to run over and fix it.

Our lock is such a POS I bet it would take me all of 10 minutes to bypass it. I mean, if a lay person can pull it off the wall and jiggle the cables, then think of what is possible to a trained professional.

Anyway the office is in a state of complete deconstruction I have no idea how we are going to launch a major site this week.

its all done

December 24th, 2007

And we are getting back in.

It was a pipe leak which was accompanied by a strange smell.

Feel sorry for the reporters who rushed to the scene hoping to break the big meth lab story.

Time to relax.

ABC news showed up

They have a reporter and are setting up to do a piece.

I need some cardboard to write a “hi mom” sign and stand behind the reporter.

Met just about all of my neighbors. A great way to wish everyone in your building.

People inside are not being informed of anything but as soon as they come out they are being informed that they can’t go back in.

witnesses say that people reported having “scrathy throats” and that there were a “lot of cops” on the 4th floor. The words “Meth lab” came up a couple times.

I’ll make that reason number 325 why not to smoke: so ypou can safely text message while driving.

google mobile update dissapoints

December 21st, 2007

Posted by mobile phone:
I was doing some christmas shopping when I noticed that google rolled out a mobile product update.

Being the software junkie that I am, I immediately started the update. One of the updates that caught my eye was a mobile version of google docs.

Any of my regular readers knopw what a big fan I am of google docs and how many times I have mentioned that my life would be complete if I could work on my documents from my blackberry.

Unfortunaty after the 10-minute update was complete I discovered that the.mobile google docs experience was not nearly as orgasmic as I had worked myself up to imagine.

First of all, spreadsheets are read only. I guess that is forgiveable since writing a spreadsheet control for the blackberry OS would actually take time and (god forbid) cost money. Having said that, making a half-assed version of google docs is unforgivable. I think that they probably somehow intend to make the documents editable, since there are a few edit this page links (nobe of which work) but as far as I could see this is just a silly web-based hack. Something that I could do in 5 minutes with a couplew lines of PHP and the writely APIs.

I could rant forever but I need some coffee.
