I miss Annie (My 2-year-old)… fired up an old webcam and gave her a call, and she jabbered away for about 5 minutes. Couldn’t understand a third of what she was saying and had to get a running translation from Mom, but was really nice talking.
Usually, she won’t talk into the phone, just listens quietly, and then says bye at the end of the “conversation”, anyway, I guess the cam stimulated her usual talkativness.
My bodyclock is still set to wake up at 5am… very strange… must get over that.
Journo claims proof of WMD lies
So he says that he can proove that Blair and Bush were lying about Iraq’s WMD capability. Don’t have to be a genius to figure that out…
Interesting bit
Pilger also claims that six hours after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he wanted to “hit” Iraq and allegedly said “Go Massive … Sweep it all up. Things related and not.”
Spotted on The Agonist
Interesting Concept. I don’t quite understand google though. I have 136 hits from the Googlebot, but when I google for my name the only thing blog related is my rdf page, which isn’t much help to the person who is googling.
I’ve done a bit of work, in exchanging links, and have gotten rid of most of the junk out of my Google Search, now all that’s left is to try to regain position number 1 from Klickety, which may be pretty hard. Especially if I continue to link to it like I just did, therefore giving it higher google placement.
Lumberjack - An access log for your blog
Interesting concept, good stuff here as well. For now I’m just sticking to awstats to take care of my traffic analysis, but am posting these links here for my memory’s sake if nothing else.
I’d also like to get blogrolling as well, but their new member signup is down. Oh, well, will wait a bit.
Over all I’ve been quite pleased with the number of people visiting my blog, especially when you take into account the lack of any valuable information here. The number of visitors are still in the 2 digits, but hopefully that’ll improve with time.
I’m doing a bit of travelling, so if I don’t answer email or do not respond to chat requests, don’t worry. I have not fallen off the edge of the earth.
I’ll continue to update the Blog whenever I get a chance. And I will be checking my primary email address aaron(a)wormus.com. So if you need a reply write there.
Reflective Reality: More one liners than you can wag a dog at…
Ever wonder:
Why do people say, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too”? Why would someone get cake if they can’t eat it?
Did Noah have woodpeckers on the ark? If he did, where did he keep them?
Do pyromaniacs wear blazers?
Why do most people put more effort into their wedding than their actual marriage?
Lot more questions (without answers), for a slow monday morning
the star wars alphabet project
Very cool stuff. I used to dream about doing something like this when I was a kid. My profession of choice used to be to work in Legoland. Didn’t matter what I was doing, as long as I was continually surrounded by tons and tons of lego.
Interaction’s TCK Care Network - Writings
we (global nomads) aren’t really rootless. We’re just rooted differently - horizontally, not vertically. Our root system is defined more by people, less by places”. Indeed, my root system was based on relationships, not geography. This is also true for the Internet, where we can interact with people from around the planet in Cyberspace.
Interesting article that relates the life of a Third Culture Kid and the Internet. Being a TCK myself it is easy to relate to the feelings that he went through.
The “Where are you from” question is a difficult one for me too. Born in Finland, raised in South America an the Indian Sub-continent, moved back to Europe when was 10, spending 2 years of my life in Finland (when I was 14-15) then spending time in Russia and Ukraine before travelling Europe. I’ve visited very country in Europe exept Norway, Holland, Luxembourg, and Bulgaria, so answering the question “Where are you from?” can be a bit of a challenge at times.
The Agonist–Thoughtful, Global, Timely
Opened up the agonist this morning to this string of articles about iraq.
The fist one is exeptionally informative!
US Soldier Says: We are facing death in Iraq for no reason
Iraq Attacks Give U.S. Forces Jitters
Eleven US servicemen killed in Iraq in past 24 hours
Life of David Gale, The (2003)
A man against capital punishment is accused of murdering a fellow activist and is sent to death row.
They start off with a lot to work with, story wise, but as the movie progresses the steam quickly runs out. The story is pretty unbelieveable, and the anti-death penalty message is blurred by the plot twists, and lacks the punch that an anti-death penaty movie should have.
The general story was similar to Somebody Has to Shoot the Picture with (a few too many) bells and whistles.
Kate Winslet is better then I’ve ever seen her.
Spoilers ahead…

Does Microsoft want to lose the plug-in patent case?
Very interesting theory. Microsoft intentionally looses the case and has to pull all plugins out of Internet Explorer, then comes out with longhorn and a compeditor free Internet Explorer. End result, MS doesn’t hurt as much as the others who were depending on IE to distribute thier patent.
Worth a good read.
Oh NO! blo.gs is down! What to do ![]()
awstats/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin
So I’ve been looking at Awstats for my logging needs. It works quite well, but there are some bery cool features that I would like to see implemented.
So I scurry over to their Soiurceforge project page and fire up the CVS browser to see what the internals look like, only to find myself face to face with a 9500 line file of perl weighing in at 450k. Ouch.
No templating, modules or any other goodness that keeps perl useable. It’ll take just as long (if not longer) to figure out what everything does then to code the additional features.
Maybe some other day!
BBC NEWS | Technology | New web worm warning
This type of stuff puts me at a bit of a loss for words. What can we do to stop these sort of things? Should the security experts stop releasing exploits for MS systems?
Even with XPs Autoupdate features, it seems like the Black hats are still one step ahead of them every time. I for one, am on a patched up-to-date windows 98 machine, running without a virus scanner. I am vigilant as far as my security is concerned and as a result I feel safe, and haven’t caught a virus, since South Park.
So it looks like we’re on a virge of another attack. What can I say?
