It looks like someone might have at last gotten free web hosting right!
I used prohosting a while back, and while the promised totally free hosting, it folded and went ad based soon after I joined.
Of course 1and1 is HUGE, and they are more then able to run this type of promotion, even if it doesn’t actaully end up being profitable. It’s a good way to get the word up and get free advertising from the grassroots people of the internet.
I don’t need space so I’m not signing up, but if anyone does choose to use it please send info about how it works.

Free hosting from 1&1!
Forgot to mention this earlier but this site is up thanks to 1&1 Hosting. They are giving out free 3 year accounts until January 14, 2004. I didn’t have to give them a credit card number or anything. lf…
I cant believe some people are still using that account and not paying! - I’ll probably return next year and say the same thing!
I set-up BankRaid a few years ago to highlight my battle with 1&1. A couple of years down the road and it all became too much too handle - and too costly as well. Too many folk ‘out there’ were writing to me asking for help. So, now I’m taking a different tack. I cannot afford to be so charitable and need some recompense for all my efforts. I’m proposing an alternative way forward. As it appears that 1&1 are virtually beyond the law, inasmuch that regulating agencies (both government and on the internet) seem reluctant to help the consumer, I thought I’d set up my own hosting company and try and attract customers - hopefully many from 1&1!
