BBC - Religion & Ethics - Hand of God
Been watching this show the last 2 weeks. VERY interesting. As a sceptic Michael Buerk does an excellent job hosting it.
The first two episodes have featured various celebrities of different faiths who believe their faith has an effect on their public lives, whether they are actors or atheletes.
The next episode is “The Power and the Glory” God and political leaders. I am not looking forward to watching Dubya profess his faith. In a world that is predominantly non-christian (especially in Hollywood), it takes quite a bit of guts to buck the tide and profess your faith. As in many cases you are called on to make sacrifices and suffer a certain amount of ridicule because of your choices.
However, there is the other side of the story, where being a “Christian” is the convenient choice and where professing your faith wins votes. It’s not my place to judge peoples faith, but for someone who doesn’t believe the conflict between what certain polititians say and the actions that they take is VERY confusing. When it comes down to it the Dubya and I practice different religeons.
Anyway, I guess I’ll wait and see the program.
