Windows Media Player Classic

Neil’s World - Media Player Classic

This is pretty cool, what looks like a rewrite of the good old “before we got all pretty” Windows Media Player. I say “what looks like” because I can’t find any information as to what exactly it is…

Anyway, it’s a media player, and it looks cool. What more do I need to say, install the friggin thing ;)

Files at the Sourceforge download page.

  • I have been using WMPC for awhile. If you like it check out Real and Quicktime Alternative. You will have to scroll down a bit but find both at: http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm

  • Oh yea, they are not players mind you. Just codecs that will work with wmpc. But it’s so nice to have Real off my system.

  • I never bothered to put real on my system… I just ignore .ram links! Nice to have it on now :)

  • Nice tip about the Real codecs. Now I can watch video clips from the BBC news website (cos they’re too stupid to use MPEG!)

I added the XviD codec and FFDShow plugin to my MPC install and it pretty much plays anything now :-)
