Cooperative Linux - Linux under Windows???

Hack the Planet:

So according to the colinux homepage “Cooperative Linux (short-named coLinux) is a port of the Linux kernel that allows it to run cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine.”

But then they have screenies that show nothing but KDE+Apps booting up under Cygwin, which is nothing spectacular at all. There is no mention of cygwin on their homepage, what is the connection???

Would DL it if I didn’t have anything better to do…

I don’t get it either - isn’t this just the same as running X and KDE under cygwin anyway? I’m sticking with good old dual-boot with LILO myself….

At the moment coLinux requires Cygwin to be compiled but they intend to remove this dependency in future versions.

Its useful for people who want to run linux programs under windows (especially when they don’t compile successfully in cygwin’s base). They will compile on colinux and you just draw on the cygwin/x libraries for running them. I am only going on what I heard, I haven’t actually tested that yet
