Doesn’t seem to be working… am I blocked for some reason?

    well I know you posted this ages ago, but it looks like orkut is well and truly broken, the name servers it was delegated to don’t work, and the name itself is broken.

    Well, if you put in 66.28.250.19 for www.orkut.com in your Hosts file (on Windows systems) you can still get your orkut fix. So it appears it’s just off the name servers for some reason.

    Just put http://66.28.250.19 as URL in the Adress-Bar of your Browser, press and be happy!

    no, don’t do that. the links (like “login”) still won’t work. you’d have to change what the links refer to when you tell them to access ‘orkut.com.’

    i don’t know how.

    If you are on a machine running Windows, look for a file names “HOSTS”

    In windows XP, it should be under c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

    windows 2k it should be in a similar folder except under c:\winnt

    And in windows 98 or Me it should be c:\windows itself.

    HOSTS is a plain text file, back it up if you’re worried about messing it up.

    Just add in the following line at the end
    66.28.250.19 www.orkut.com

    Make sure this is on a separate line by itself and not preceeded by a # or any other character.

    Save the HOSTS file. Remember, it has no extension. It should be called just HOSTS.

    That’s it. Orkut should work just fine now.

    So I guess it became an informal place for people like us to land up :)

    Is changing the hosts file working for u all? It doesnt seem to work here. I tried pinging 66.28.250.19 100% packet loss. Can you all please confirm that its working for you still?
