New Links Manager
I’m about 60 percent done on the guts of my all new link management script. When I get a working version then I’ll start using it here, and put up a release prolly .01.
I need a name though. For the life of me I can’t think of anything, well, I shouldn’t say that… twinkylinky is constantly coming to mind but I want something that doesn’t sound like it should be in san fransisco getting married right now.
Sol suggested Linkmaster, but that sounds like it should be dressed in leather… the working name is tlinks but that doesn’t have much of a ring to it… bah!
Suggestions are welcome, the script will be released under the GNU GPL, so if you’re interested in working on it just let me know.
Actually, I may release the core class under the LGPL, as I do want it to get as much coverage as possible. Let me know what you think!

Here’s a weird one …
AMISH-L
AMISH-L Manager and Intelligent System for sorting Hot-Links.
You have to love the recursive definitions.
Or like, TLM (The Link Manager) or ALMS (Another Link Management System or ALMS Link Management System)
And then there are always things like L-Manage and LM-Sys that sound archaic and such.
Eh, just gibberish. Enjoy.

I think that should be YALMS (Yet Another Link Management System)…
I like the sound of MISH-L (Pronounced Michelle)… Could stand for Manager and Intelligent System for sorting HyperLinks.
I’m working the core as a layer which just interfaces the database, sort of a simple oo API, so it doesn’t have to have a name that appeals to general public. I like MISH-L! When I get the backend tweaked how I like it I’ll do a front end for it, and then come up with a snazzy name and all programs that use the API can be “powered by Michelle”

BLINKS - Blog LINKS
TOOLS - The Object Orientated Link Script
DALE - Database Activated Link Engine
ALE - Aarons Link Engine
or even AWFUL - Aaron Wormus’ Fantastic Utility for Links (ok, just kidding on that last one!)

Woah, some awesome choices. I like ALE! Powered by ALE would describe it quite well
BLINKS too, but I don’t want to make it sound like it can only be used for blogs.

Bravo, bravo - I’m quite impressed with the level of creativity!

I just re-read this post and saw the bit about you releasing it under the GPL, and asking if anyone wants to help on the project.
What you writing it in?

I’m writing it in object oriented PHP 4. Any co-developers are welcome. I especially need a User Interface person, as that’s what I hate doing.
The project and CVS will be hosted on www.gna.org once I get my act together
