My Miniblog

What’s the Story — by Aaron Wormus

I’ve put up “Miniblog” on the side! Yet another reason to visit AQF!!!

Interesting web pages that “speak for themselves” will be put into the miniblog, stuff that I have comments on will be put into the main blog.

Miniblog only shows the last 20 entries, so make sure you visit frequently :) It’s also powered by del.icio.us. And you can always see the full feed here!

preg_match_all is from HELL

PHP: preg_match_all - Manual

Groan… why can’t we do:
preg_match(”/yada/g”, $string, $match);
It’s just plain silly! The more you look at PHP the more aparant it’s macro-type of philosophy becomes clear.

Like I have always said “Since Perls motto is ‘There is more then one way to do it”, PHP’s motto should be “Find a good way to do it and create an inbuilt function for it”.

Links brought to Front Page

What’s the Story — by Aaron Wormus

Now the only thing I need to do is organize my categories. Then I will have fulfilled all my blog promises!

I am using del.icio.us. It’s an awesome tool! If you have a blog, you should be using it.

This post is also to annouce that since discovering del.icio.us I have trashed all plans to create my own link management system. I am syndicateing my rss feed with zFeeder. Another great tool! It has a bug though in the template system. I have other things to do now, so I’ll get to that some other time.

Breaking Slashdot News!

Slashdot | The Logic Behind Metric Paper Sizes

It looks like slashdot just discovered that if you cut an A3 page in half you get 2 A4 pages! Talk about “News for Nerds”…

We shouldn’t make fun of Letter sized paper, as slashdot user ‘ajs’ pointed out it does have it’s uses:

Also, if you take 3 8.5×11 sheets, line them up along their longer sides, attach them to eachother, put a staple through the middle of the first and second sheet join and then hang them from a height of approximately eye-level it makes the idea place for a picture of a naked “girl next door”.

Google at the edge of Evil

Google AdSense - Google AdSense: What’s New

Google rolls out a fleet of “Image Ads”. These look pretty evil to me. I have enjoyed the adsense text ads, and hey in the 6 months I’ve been using them they have generated a revenue stream of $3.85 (people say they are too unobtrusive, and no, they aren’t on this site), but if these ones start getting annoying I will be disappointed.

Beheaded Americans Family blames US Government

Scotsman.com News - Politics - US to blame say family of Iraq victim

Sad!

“His father Michael blamed George W Bush’s administration for the circumstances of his son’s death. He said that his son, a Philadelphia businessman missing since April 9, was held in custody for 13 days in late March by the US military and Iraqi authorities.

Nick was arrested by Iraqi police in Mosul after travelling to the country as a freelance telecommunications entrepreneur intending to help rebuild the communications system.

He was later passed to the US military who finally freed him after his parents sued the Federal Government for his release on April 5. “

Rabbi’s criticize Evangelical support for Israel

Israel News : Jerusalem Post Internet Edition

This has got to be one of the most ironic things I’ve seen yet.

I have never fully understood the Evangelical Christians fascination with the modern state of Isreal. It seems like a lot of Jews don’t understand it either.

It gets stranger then them trying to “convert” the jews, when they get involved with Isreali politics.

Rabbi David Rosen, international director of inter-religious affairs in the American Jewish Committee’s Jerusalem office, said this political activity is a larger concern than charitable work.

“There’s support for some of the most extreme political positions in Israeli society,” Rosen said. “That I find far more disturbing than any suggestion that there could be missionary activity.”

Wouldn’t it be ironic, if the predominatly Jewish National of Isreal cannot make peace with the largely Christian Palistinians, because of the extremist Evangelical Americans?
