O-zone Dragostea Din Tei Lyrics @ Top40-Charts.com - 40 Top 20 & Top 40 Music Charts from 25 Countries
This song has been in the top 10 all summer… just had to blog about it after talking with a romanian friend.
I was at the park yesterday with the kids and heard these other kids singing the song WORD-FOR-WORD, in romanian. Amazing
Anyway, if nothing else, it’s great for Romania!

Worst song I’ve ever heard in my life. Did you see the video? Check out this one then, it’s funny.

That’s terrific! Especially since it’s real stop motion, most of those lego videos are just 3d animation. Thanks for the link.

The only video I saw is that one with the fat dude dancing in front of his computer. The song is ok its definitely no Bania U Cygana though.

Lol… this is awesome. I love the part right about at the middle to the end where they are on the green mat and dancing. Must have took alot of shots!!
The original is hilarious. It is amazing that is was on CNN, though. That is one big company. Newgrounds now has 3 million hits for that video alone. It baffles me. I must start a website with cheesy dancing and lip-syncing.

I’m guessing at the structure of Rumanian because it has one structure that’s vaguely like French (both are Latin-descended languages, except some poor Roman soldiers ended up in Eastern Europe spreading Latin, why be there when they could be in the south of France, hehehehehe!)
S before E and I is like “sh”
C before E and I is like “ch”, everywhere else is hard-c (”k”). If you actually see a “ch”, it’s pronounced like a K.
ST sounds like a “sht”.
They can’t show it in regular letters, but Rumanian has S and T letters with what looks like a comma at the bottom. These change the sound to “sh” and “ts”. One good example is Vlad Tepes Dracul (”The Dragon”). Vlad Tepes was the brutal 13th-century count who was immortalized in legends by rural people, giving him supernatural traits, and which was exaggerated further by Bram Stoker when he wrote his famous horror book, DRACULA. In Rumanian, the T and S in Tepes are the comma-letters, so it’s pronounced “Tsepesh”. Vlad Tepes means “Vlad the Impaler”, and in fact he liked to stick captured Turkish prisoners on a sharp stick or on tall sharp poles, and watch them die slowly…pretty bad, but not a bloodsucker like the stories.
French is vaguely like that but the only rule is that C before E and I is always “s”; before A, O or U is always sounded like a “k”, EXCEPT if a special cedilla mark under the c, to show it’s pronounced “s” after all.
Believe it or not, some words of Rumanian you already know. “Salut” (a salute) means hi, greetings (usually formal). “Eu” (I) is like Italian io, French je. “Sunt” means “is”, an unchanged form since ancient Latin. “Mea” (my) is like the French “ma”, “tai, tei” (your) ditto. Or like the Latin expression “mea culpa” (my fault!) “Ochii” is eyes if you realize the “ch” sounds like a k and you think of the Latin words oculist, ocular, having to do with eyes. In French it changed more from the Latin (oeil, yeux). Even “fericirea” (happiness) is understandable because of the English word which also comes from Latin: felicity. But there is much that is different, of course, because the language developed on its own for hundreds of years after the Roman Empire was no more, with Slavic neighbours.
Cool, isn’t it? If you know enough linguistic history, languages aren’t so foreign. Instead of being totally mystified, you can say, “Oh, yeah, I remember you. You’re Latin’s boy, aren’t you?”

Sorry for being long-winded. It helps to know the original cam video is available now with sub-titles:

On the same page you can go to the Numa Numa link and view a host of imitators, including these 3 little boys who are evil and MUST be slain!

…I only heard this last night and I am stunned. This song has an eerily seductive “Macarena” quality to it, that’s all I can say.

It is a great song, but maybe not the best. For all it’s worth, rankopedia.com says the greatest is Stairway to Heaven.
