Not mine silly… www.boo.bs is not yet taken!
Here’s a great chance for a geek, to get their hands on boo.bs!
Move it! This might be your last chance!
Of course there is a downside… getting your hands on boo.bs is going to cost you $500, and that is only for the first 2 years, by then you’ll probably be tired of it.
Which leads to a potential business opportunity. Once you’re tired of boo.bs, you can rent it out by the week/day/hour… how much would you pay for an hour with Boo.bs?
ABC, Fox air tape by purported terrorist
This one set off my conspiracy alarms. Fox (republican propoganda machine) would not have aired this if it was serious.
Of course, if the purpose was to scare Americans enough to vote for a “strong President who knows how to handle these terrists”, then airing it would make sense.
100,000 Iraqi civilians killed: Study
About 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died since the US-led invasion, according to a study by Iraqi and US public health experts.
The study, carried out in 33 neighbourhoods of Iraq and published on the Web site of the Lancet medical journal, shows that violence is now the leading cause of death in the country.
Earlier, most people died of heart attacks, strokes and chronic illness. The risk of a violent death is now 58 times higher than it was before the invasion.
Les Roberts of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore led the research. Five of the six Iraqi interviewers who went to the 988 households in the survey were doctors.
Householders were asked about births and deaths in the 14.6 months before the March 2003 invasion, and births and deaths in the 17.8 months afterwards.

Figlet driver for Text_CAPTCHA
Last night I was screwing around with the recently released Text_CAPTCHA and the unreleased Text_Figlet and came up with a rough driver for Text_CAPTCHA.
There’s still loads to do, but it gives you the idea of what it will do.
ONLamp.com: Allowing Registration-Required Binary Downloads
… something that can be done very simply with PEAR::HTTP_Download
[code]
$dl = &new HTTP_Download();
$dl->setFile('../hidden/download.tgz');
$dl->setContentDisposition(HTTP_DOWNLOAD_ATTACHMENT, 'latest.tgz');
$dl->setContentType('application/x-gzip');
$dl->send();
This will send the zipped files latest.tgz, in the example of course you or you can name that file what you like. You can also send arbritrary data (from the db) and throttle your download to conserve bandwidth.
Articles like this are interesting, but make a lot more work than is really needed.
International PHP Magazine – Cutting-Edge Technologies for Web Professionals – News
This issue contains my second International PHP Magazine article “Tuning your Strings with PHP5″ where, in an attempt to rid scripts of unnessesary regular expressions, I wade through many of the nearly 100 string handling functions in PHP5.
Other topics include “Accessing eBay Services via SOAP”, A review of Aknords “PHP Expert Editor”, an analysis of IlohaMail, the first edition of the new “Guru Speak” column, an article about the future of PHP database handling (PDO), and loads more from all of our favorite PHP writers…

Game News – Half Life 2 Gold – Yahoo! Games Domain
Wouldn’t have normally blogged about such a trivial event, except that the last line in this paragraph made me chuckle.
“Half-Life 2 has surpassed our expectations in every sense — its high-quality graphics, ground-breaking physics and immersive first-person shooter gameplay set a new standard for PC action games,” said Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games, whose dilated pupils were said to resemble dollar bill signs.
Pretty cool webhosting
[NOTE] Since posting this article I’ve been informed that the company has discontinued this product and is developing thier own proprietary IM system. Because of this I’ve removed references to the company from this blog entry.
Here’s a two-bit internet advertising company who rips off the work of an Open Source project, claims it as their own, and adds advertisements to it. The site is a joke, here’s the best part.
