PHP != Star Trek… err Java

PHP enterprise silliness | PHP Everywhere

When I think of Enterprise I think of Java (right after I think of Star Trek).

It seems to me like Java has put most of the buzz into the “Enterprise” buzzword. Instead of marketing Java directly, suits have been convinced that they now need an “Enterprise solution” and Java provides the best solution for your new “Enterprise” needs.

With this understanding, saying that PHP is not “Enterprise Ready” is not controvertial. PHP is not (and will never be) Java.

About PHP being for SME, the list corperations that use PHP is enough to refute this claim.

  • You’re sure PHP will never be Java. ;-)

  • PHP won’t be Enterprise-ready for a long time, as Dr. Richard Daystrom doesn’t invent Duotronics until 2243. ;->
