ZCE Web Seminar
Marco just got done covering the basics of what it takes to become a ZCE in the online Zend Certification Web Seminar.
The seminar used the same interface which will be used in the upcoming php|symphony seminars. You can read all about it here. It has a simple, unobtrusive interface with an open chat and list of users on one side, and then the presentation area on the other side.
It took a couple minutes to get everyone set up and at the correct sound levels, but once it got going it ran pretty smoothly. Towards the end of the second half of the seminar the sound started breaking up, it seemed to get progressively worse until the end. I have plenty of bandwidth so the issue must have been on the server end. Others mentioned the same problem. There were between 20 and 30 people in there, people came and left freely.
Anyway, it was fun and I even learned a cool way to abuse wordwrap
Daniel Kushner from Zend attended (We’ll probably see a PHP 5 Zend Certificate in the end of next year), as well as Chris Shifflet, one of the authors of the Zend PHP Certification Study Guide.
Looking forward to seeing more cool stuff from php|symphony in the near future.

Interesting - I thought the audio problem was just me. I sure hope it’s an isolated problem. I think it might be, since Ilia has been using this platform for months. In my experience, audio problems with online training are almost always the fault of the speaker’s connection, so it’s possible that Marco just began to have connectivity issues.
I’m looking forward to my security seminar. I have a screaming fast connection to the Internet, so my audio should be fine.

The Webinar was very good, I liked the application rather than the iSeminar Application that Zend uses… But I would like it much more if I can hear the speaker, maybe problem was our only, glourious:( provider TTNET’s settings. Nowadays they work very hard on banning voice packages.
I hope I could have fixed the problem and attend Chris’ s webinar.

Hey,
Glad you enjoyed the seminar–it turns out the audio was a combination of bad luck: my connection went bad (I couldn’t even use my VoIP phone afterwards), my microphone’s gain was way out there and–last but not least–let’s not forget my sore throat
Just to give you an idea of what this sounds with someone who has proper equipment, connectivity and is not choking his lungs out, we just put up a sample taken straight from one of the certification classes that Ilia Alshanetsky teaches:

Cheers!
