Freighter Cruise & Travel - Freighter Travel is our specialty…

Freighter Cruise & Travel - Freighter Travel is our specialty…

This is the freighter ship company that Emannuel Goldstein took from Tokyo to the US.

I’ve gone from Denmark to Argentina and then back (via Brazil and Romania), and then gone from Poland to Finland… all very enjoyable experiences. Must do it again when I have a month or so free.

How to be a Programmer

How to be a Programmer: A Short, Comprehensive, and Personal Summary

To be a good programmer is difficult and noble. The hardest part of making real a collective vision of a software project is dealing with one’s coworkers and customers. Writing computer programs is important and takes great intelligence and skill. But it is really child’s play compared to everything else that a good programmer must do to make a software system that succeeds for both the customer and myriad colleagues for whom she is partially responsible. In this essay I attempt to summarize as concisely as possible those things that I wish someone had explained to me when I was twenty-one.

This is very subjective and, therefore, this essay is doomed to be personal and somewhat opinionated. I confine myself to problems that a programmer is very likely to have to face in her work. Many of these problems and their solutions are so general to the human condition that I will probably seem preachy. I hope in spite of this that this essay will be useful.

A good read for all programmers, a lot of the ideas can be marked up to personal opinion, but interesting none-the-less.

This is totally from the “Add-it-to-my-wishlist” department.

You’ll also need to add a new desk since, there is no way this beast will fit on my desktop.

Elephant Finder Finds Spamming Sucks

Well, at least they will when I come up first in google for Elephant Finder. It is not that bad a site, but it really sucks that they decided to resort to spamming as a marketing tool.

Especially for a niche market, the only place spamming will get you is in the can! Sorry!

Natalie Portman is bald, smoking cigarettes

witz.org: Natalie Portman is bald, smoking cigarettes

Pictures probably taken during the filming of V for Vendetta, in which she is shorn. I can’t wait for Vendetta to come out, they’ve pushed back the release date (rumored because of the London bomings), but hope they don’t buckle in and change the storyline as well. Would be very ironic if they did.

‘Exorcism of Emily Rose’ is surprise runaway hit

‘Exorcism of Emily Rose’ is surprise runaway hit - Sep. 11, 2005

“The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” a courtroom drama loosely based on true events, scared the demons away from the historically lackluster late summer box office by registering the third-biggest opening for a September, according to studio estimates issued Sunday.

Looks interesting… watched Red Eye on Sunday, pretty simple story, they try and sell the “this is a scary movie on an airplane” but it turned out just to be your regular action movie with the vast majority of the “story” taking place on an airplane.

Expected a bit more from Wez Craven. Oh well…

I want an iPod nano

Apple - iPod nano

Actually I want an iRiver for the recording, but the nano is pretty friggin cool. Someone should hack it into a universal remote control. Why do those things have to be so friggin big.

Other than the form factor, there isn’t much in these things. Sure they look cool, but they cost just about as much as a whole computer these days. Anyhoo, if someone has one laying around just send it on over ;)
