Bellsouth/ATT SUCKS!
I am on hold with bellsouth, and the longer they keep me on hold the longer I am going to rant about them. The trouble started before I even got into work, I started getting reports of “flakey internet” so when I get in and do a quick diagnostic sweep and determine that it was our DSL connection was at fault (as opposed to the shitty DNS service that we get which I can get around) I call bellsouth tech support.
That was 4 hours ago.
The first half an hour was spent with them trying to figure out how to get into our account - even though I gave them our username and phone number. I was then put on hold for 5 minutes while they got someone from billing to take care of us. Billing pulled up my information right away (with the exact same information I gave to tech). They then put me back through to tech and I was on hold for another 20 minutes.
After ever 5 minutes or so, the billing person would pick up the line and apologize for the wait. Finally she said “I keep putting you through to a tech, but they just pick up the phone and don’t say anything and then hang up”. I told her to keep trying and 5 minutes later I was on with a tech.
This tech told me that for them to do anything I had to be directly connected to the DSL modem, not any routers. I asked for a direct number which I could call when I was directly connected and they said that they couldn’t give it to me, but I would have to go through the whole process again.
I hauled a computer to the router and plugged it all in… and then called again and spent another 10 minutes on hold before speaking to another tech. This time she asked me a bunch of (the same) questions before and then told me she had to put me through to a tech.
This is the good part - instead of putting me through to a tech, she put me through to her slightly confused hairdresser.
Once I disconnected with the salon, I had to call back into bellsouth and work my way back through to the tech. Once I finally got through to a tech, they said “we can’t run a line test because you’re having an ‘outage’ - if you still have trouble in 30 minutes call back”.
So apparently we have a couple clowns working on our DSL line, and the only site I can access is my blog… oh well, sucks being them!
At least we have our TVs up

Let me know when you find a company that doesn’t suck. I swore off Bellsouth about 5 years ago, went with Comcast and found that it made Bellsouth look good. I have no loyalties anymore…I just want good service…is it really so hard?!!!
Do not feel bad, I have been online and off on the phone line just to get dial-up service, because both AT&T and Bellsouth have been billing me, thus wanted to get bellsouth connection set up to end AT&T…
BUT I have been on and off all day from 10 am until now 10 pm…and they have my whole computer messed up from techs having me change setting and restore and such which has finally made nothing but their site load…grrr…I am completely pissed…be wise do not have any confidence in techs..speak to only supervisors!

I had AOL dial up and when I moved down South I switched to BellSouth dial up as they dont have DSL in my area till Mid Dec.
AOL was slow and I lost connection here and there all dial ups are slow but Bell South is slower and I lose connection A LOT A heck of A LOT.
If given a choice between the two as far as Dial up goes ask around . I get DSL in 2 weeks but wouldnt recommend Bell South to anyone from the service or lack of it which I have received so far

ATT sucks so bad. I can’t get on my internet. Site says “not provisioned” please go to our website at http://www.att…blah blah blah. Huh? I can’t GET to the internet. Called tech support multiple times over the past week and finally got through. They can’t get through to Provisioning Dept to determine the issue - message says that due to high call volume they need to call back!! Their own internal groups?? Geez. Now tech support tells me that I need to wait and call back in 3 - 4 days for help. Oh..and he will be sending me an email to my att account so I can report he gave me excellent service. Hello….I can’t GET to the internet. Okay…now pirating my neighbors unsecured internet or I can go to Panera. Logging into their ATT website and am selecting internet issues but it won’t recognize my att email account and password but it WILL if I pick telephone issues. Guess what I selected for my email? Oh..but I have to state my issue in 100 characters or less (some places 20 characters only) OMG Okay..I work from home. This is a problem. I have to go to Panera or a neighbors to work. Nice. There should be a movie created about phone rage. I seriously am saying bad things by the time a real person gets on the phone and still no friggin help. We actually pay for this bad service and frustration?????
I completely agree, ATT totally sucks! Appreciate it if I can share this rant with you and your readers. I wanted to downgrade my data plan to the plans I was offered when I bought the Palm Treo as well as I extended my contract 2 more bloody years. I am paying $39.99/month for unlimited data and 1500 text however I’m willing to go with little or no internet usage so I can cut down on costs and to not waste time on the slow internet connection and poor experience. I just spoke to an ATT rep who said that they don’t offer those programs anymore on PDA’s and the least expensive program is $34.99. Whoopdefrickendoo!! She suggested that if I want to save money on data plans that I go with an alternative phone. I just spent $300 on the Treo last year lady!! Let alone I would probably have to pay for a new phone unless I re-upped for another 2 bloody years with ATT - not!! Overall, this smells like a money grubbing scam and possibly illegal no less.
