This is beyond insane…

A 22-year-old Californian man who received oral sex from a sixteen-year-old girl should not be forced to register for life as a sex offender, the California Supreme Court ruled on Monday.

The state’s top court found that California denied Vincent Hofsheier equal protection under the law because those having intercourse in such circumstances would not be forced to register as lifetime sex offenders.

Hofsheier appealed after being ordered to register his name on the list, which is shared with the public and carries significant stigma.

How a civilized country can allow people to commit crimes like that and get away with it is beyond my comprehension! I say make him put his name on the list AND lock him up!! Execute him for that matter! This story proves how screwed up this legal system is. At least I can go to bed at night knowing that he’s going to burn in hell for what he’s done!</sarcasm>

Croatia has got to be one of my favorite countries in Europe… I’ve visited Zagreb tons of times, had friends in Rijeka, spent two summers in Makarska/Split area, and this short article brought all the memories of my many football-loving croatian friends flooding back in.

ZAGREB (Reuters) – Croatian soccer fans rushed to donate blood this week in exchange for tickets for the national team’s decisive World Cup qualifying game against Sweden, the Vecernji List daily reported Friday.

The game’s organizers set aside 300 tickets for the occasion but the number of volunteer blood donors in Zagreb was several times higher. Students cut classes and employees used their lunch breaks to queue in the hospital, the daily said.

Croatia came out even with Sweden after both games (0:0 on aggregate), but beat Malta, Iceland and Bulgaria squarely and currently stand on the top of the group.

I’m quite sure every world leader uses the bathroom, not all get photographed writing a note requesting permission.

BERLIN (Reuters) – An “electronic nappy” used to monitor wetness sparked a bomb alert in a German post office when it arrived in a parcel ticking suspiciously, police in the southwestern city of Heilbronn said Thursday.

“They suspected it was a bomb so they put the package into an empty room and called the police,” said a police spokesman. “It was supposed to respond to wetness with bleeping sounds but this one ticked.”

Two squad cars rushed to the scene and immediately contacted the sender. Police gave the all clear after they contacted the woman who told them the intercepted package contained only a malfunctioning diaper.
