======  Mozilla/Firefox Custom Keywords Directory ======

NOTE: In an effort to keep this as a community project, I am using a wiki. PLEASE do not delete entries or screw around with the formatting. Thank you!

Custom Keywords create shortcuts to URLs that you type on the Location bar of your Mozilla or Firefox browser window. For more information please see a great tutorial. Also read the original announcement, and this blog entry from joeyday.com.

A quick rundown of how they work. In Mozilla or Firefox, right click on the link, and create a bookmark and give it a name. Go into your bookmark manager view the properties of the bookmark that you just created. In the "keyword" field insert a unique name for the bookmark (the shorter the better), for instance for the Google Image bookmark I just use 'gi'.

NOTE: If you are an IE user try kwargs (http://www.kwargs.com).  It is a free plugin for Firefox & IE that offers this same functionality with over 8,000 presets. You can also create custom presets and they are saved on the web - handy if you use multiple computers. 

To use these bookmarks just go to your address bar, and type 'gi <keyword>' and it will open Google images and search for the keyword(s) that you specified.
